At the Figurentheater, am Burgtor at Herrengasse 38 (tel. 09861/73-54 or 09861/33-33), puppet shows are presented year-round Monday to Saturday at 8pm, and June 15 to September, also at 3pm. The evening shows cost 8€ for adults and 7€ for students. Matinee tickets are 6€ for adults, with student and children tickets costing 5€ and 4€, respectively.
The most idyllic place to go in the evening is Unter den Linden, at Detwang (tel. 09861/59-09). This is a cafe-bar on the River Tauber. You reach it by going under the arch at St. Jakobskirche and following Klingengasse through the town gate, heading down a path to Detwang. The cafe is open April to October daily 10am to 10pm, but it reduces its hours in winter, depending on weather. If you'd like to sample some local wine, try Zur Hölle, Burggasse 8 (tel. 09861/42-29), a mellow place in the town's oldest house. A wide assortment of wines is offered at 4€ and 6€ per glass.
